Washington, D.C., the capital of the USA, is located on the Potomac River, bordering Virginia and Maryland. It covers 177 km² and is home to about 705,000 people. The city hosts the federal government and many international organizations, such as the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund. It also features numerous museums and national monuments. The climate is temperate, with warm summers (25-30 °C) and cool winters (0-5 °C). Spring or autumn is the best time to visit, when the weather is most pleasant.
